Quiet Valley is hosting the Civil War Road Show for Monroe County with our local partners the Monroe County Historical Association, the Eastern Monroe Public Library and the Dutot Museum.

Special events are planned for each day, filled with activities as well as the traveling exhibition, including the encampment of the 142nd PA Volunteer Regiment Company G, presentations of Civil War medicine, open house of farm buildings, recipes of the Civil War, school house programs, historic agricultural practices and children’s activities.

On Saturday, there will be a genealogy panel discussion, “How to Research your Civil War Ancestors” headed by Kathy Hale from the Pennsylvania State Library and B J Bachman from the Monroe County Archives from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon in the Engel Education Center. Local historical and cultural organizations will be present offering informative displays and talks throughout the event.

The 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company G will have a presence at Quiet Valley the entire time.

The Civil War Road Show will also coordinate with the 175th anniversary celebration of the formation of Monroe County. Monroe County was created out of Northampton County in 1836 to better meet the needs of the expanding population.
